Training segment details
12. Prototyping

Think it, design it, build it and then prove your idea
You CAN build your own prototypes - even if you are all thumbs. It does not have to be difficult. Once you understand the various prototyping methods, you can decide which method best fit your invention best. Many people may ask the question "Have you made the prototype?" In reality, prototyping almost always goes through a series of steps. You will learn the various methods including drawings, crude sculptures in balsa wood or plastic to accomplish your design objectives. But how do you prototype a "business method", or a new chemical processing plant? This segment will walk you through the latest prototyping methods available.

What you will learn:
How to build and pefect prototypes and working models:

  • Why it's important to build a prototypes
  • The five stages of prototyping
  • The different types and uses of prototypes
  • How to develop electrical, mechanical & chemical prototypes and virtual prototypes
  • The basics of pencil and CAD drawings & sketches
  • Tricks to do-it-yourself prototyping
  • How to out-source prototyping
  • Big review of prototype materials, processes and actual samples
