14. Prototype to Production

Production refinements for mass production
What does it take to get a new product launched? As you go through the various stages of the prototyping -- product development process -- successive testing and product refinements will be required. Once your innovation has been thoroughly tested, and your sales team is raring to go, you have to be able to follow through and ramp-up supply. This can be a painful experience if you don't plan ahead. This is where the rubber meets the road and you will have to do whatever it takes to induce the birth of your new product line. In this segment you will also learn how you can defer certain up front costs to improve your company’s cash flow. You’ll also learn how your sales & marketing department (or partners) can play an important part in coordinating the ramp-up with the manufacturing department (or partners).
